The Power Systems Research Truck Production Index (PSR-TPI) increased from 109 to 113, or 3.7%, for the three-month period ending Dec. 31, 2024, from Q3 2024.

    The year-over-year (Q4 2023 to Q4 2024) decrease for the PSR-TPI was, 117 to 113, or -3.4%.

The PSR-TPI measures truck production globally and across six regions: North America, China, Europe, South America, Japan & Korea and Emerging Markets.

This data comes from OE Link™, the proprietary database maintained by Power Systems Research.

All Regions. In 2025, Medium and heavy commercial vehicle production in South America, Greater China, South Asia and Japan/Korea are expected to increase moderately European production is expected to be flat and North American production is expected to decline over 2024.

Global Index. Globally, medium and heavy commercial vehicle production is expected to increase by 2.3% this year over 2024. Overall improvement in the global economy is the primary driver for the forecasted increase. However, the possibility for additional global tariffs from the incoming United States Executive Branch may place negative pressure on this forecast. PSR

  • 2025 NA Dumpers/Tenders Production

1,200 units is the estimate by Power Systems Research of the number of Dumpers/Tenders expected to be produced in North America in 2025.

Dumpers/Tenders are vehicles designed for carrying bulk material, often on building sites. Dumpers are distinguished from dump trucks by configuration: a dumper is usually an open 4-wheeled vehicle with the load skip in front of the driver, while a dump truck has its cab in front of the load.

Utility style models are versatile and are extremely popular with homeowners.  Dumper/Tenders, commonly referred to as the Power Buggy, are sought after pieces of equipment, much faster than a conventional wheelbarrow and can accelerate job site related activities.

The Bauma CHINA 2024 trade show, held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from November 26-29, showcased a significant evolution in the global construction machinery industry. The event expanded to 330,000 square meters, featuring 3,542 exhibitors from 32 countries and attracting 281,488 visitors from 188 nations, a remarkable recovery from the pandemic-impacted 2020 edition.

This year’s exhibition highlighted trends such as electrification, sustainable technologies, digital innovations, and intelligent system integration. Chinese manufacturers like Dingli, LGMG, and Sinoboom demonstrated dominance, presenting groundbreaking products in new energy and hybrid solutions, while the presence of Western manufacturers was notably reduced.

The trade show introduced dedicated zones for intelligent management and new energy technologies, reflecting a pivot toward green and digital solutions. Key product launches included electric and hybrid machinery, hydrogen-powered systems, and cutting-edge equipment from major players like Sany, XCMG, and Zoomlion.

Conferences focused on sustainability, new energy collaborations, and digital transformation underscored the industry’s shift towards environmentally friendly practices and global market integration. The Bauma CHINA 2024 effectively underscored China’s growing influence in the sector, signaling a transformative phase for the construction machinery market. PSR
