Global Automobile, Minivan and SUV Production Data

Looking for opportunities to drive growth and reduce risk in the Passenger Car and SUV market? Companies have relied on PSR’s data and expertise to make better decisions for product planning, marketing and sales.

Our analysis of global passenger car, minivan and SUV engine production includes quarterly updates of our databases, which are distributed to our clients in the form of extensive Update Bulletins. In addition to database update details, these quarterly Update Bulletins include five-year forecasts by region and industry segment.

The applications we track in three segments are Passenger Cars, Minivans and SUVs.

Our Product Definitions Guide lists some 250 products in the 13 industry segments tracked by Power Systems Research. we place special emphasis on five segments. They are Agriculture, Construction, Industrial, Commercial Vehicles (MHV and LCV) and Power Generation. The other segments we track are:

  • Lawn & Garden
  • Marine Auxiliary
  • Marine Propulsion
  • Minivans and SUVs
  • Passenger Cars
  • Railway
  • Recreational Products

e-Mobility

As a key segment in the shift to electric mobility, the global passenger car market is rapidly growing as zero emission policies, improving charging infrastructure, and the declining costs of high capacity Li-Ion batteries propel the shift from IC engines to battery electric power.

Tax incentives, rising fuel cost and the growing popularity Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) are are driving consumer demand for e-mobility options in the Passenger Car segment. In addition, 16 countries and the state of California have announced plans to phase-out fossil fuel vehicles by 2035. Bans on diesel fuel vehicles have already taken effect in several large cities.

Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) are also playing a role in the shift to efficient, zero emissions transportation. While hydrogen can be produced cleanly from renewable sources, a lack of fueling infrastructure is currently limiting adoption FCEVs to a handful of major transportation hubs where hydrogen fueling stations are available. This makes FCEVs a more attractive option for replacing existing IC Engine-powered fleet vehicles that operate on fixed routes.

As the Passenger Car segment continues transitioning from IC Engine to alternative power sources, PSR is continually updating its OEM Power Source classifications to provide deeper insights into an expanded range of OEM Drive Type configurations that use one or more OEM Power Sources including IC engine, fuel cell and battery systems. Power source installation data for Passenger Cars, Minivans and SUVs can be found in our OE Link™ database covering the production of original equipment.

We have three proprietary databases that have been built and updated since 1976 and that contain information on Passenger Cars, Minivans and SUVs:

  • EnginLink™, contains information on global engine production down to the engine model detail. It also contains five-year production forecasts by engine model.
  • OE Link™ contains information on global OEM production volume and forecast data, including model specifications.
  • PartsLink™ is a comprehensive resource providing in-service population data for engine-powered vehicles and equipment.
