CNH Acquires Sampierana SPA
Emiliano Marzoli CNH Industrial has purchased Sampierana S.p.A. an Italian construction equipment and components manufacturer. The deal totals €101.8 million and will allow CNH to control 100% of Sampierana within the next four years.
“This latest strategic acquisition will further accelerate the profitable growth of our construction equipment business. Sampierana’s exceptional portfolio solidifies our presence in critical market segments and provides our dealers and customers access to industry-leading products backed by our brand, distribution, and manufacturing experience,” said Scott Wine, Chief Executive Officer of CNH Industrial.

Mercedes Grows in EV Bus Market
Emiliano Marzoli While smaller players are struggling to remain competitive in the EV bus space, Mercedes-Benz is targeting more clients and more volumes.
Mercedes-Benz has handed over one eCitaro G electric articulated bus with solid-state batteries each to Hamburger Hochbahn and Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein. The two new electric articulated buses each have seven battery packs with solid electrolyte and an energy content of 441 kWh, allowing up to 200km range, depending on operational conditions.

European EV Buses Under Pressure
Emiliano Marzoli After three years, Alstom is halting their EV bus production. By the end of 2021, the production lines will be stopped, and unless a buyer will take over, most of the operations will be shut down. Twenty employees will remain active to assure maintenance for the existing vehicles in operations with RATP.
Just two years ago, Alstom was one of the winners of a contract to supply electric buses to the French operator. However, this was not enough to maintain profitability.
PSR Analysis: We believe that electric buses have a great future, particularly in Europe. According to our database CV Link™, alternative drive buses, including Hybrid, Fuel Cells and Battery Electric, will grow at a 22% CAGR between 2020 and 2030.

Magni, Bobcat Reach New Heights
Emiliano Marzoli Magni TH, an Italian manufacturer of material handling equipment, has signed an agreement with Bobcat to supply a range of rotating telehandlers (RTH) between 18 and 39 meters.
The new machines will be produced in Italy, by Magni TH, with the Bobcat branding and stage V engines. In order to achieve demand Magni has already developed a new facility, allowing the company to produce 3500 rotating telehandlers per year, once at full capacity. This agreement will allow Magni to grow significantly according to their president and founder, Riccardo Magni.

Scania Creates Bridge To EU 2030 Emissions Targets
Emiliano Marzoli Scania, a Swedish truck manufacturer, is developing an 18-meter long solar cell-clad trailer that will be able to generate energy from devices along 140m2 of surface area on the sides and roof.
According to the truck manufacturer, the powered trailer will be able to generate fuel saving between 5% and 10% in northern Europe, and up to double that in sunny regions like Spain. The tests are also validating the use of the trailers as power stations to feed the main grid, once they have completed charging the batteries and the vehicle is stationary.

Wacker Neuson Expands EV Offerings
German construction machine manufacturer Wacker Neuson has introduced a new product to their electric range. The EZ17e is an electric zero tail mini excavator with lithium ion batteries and flexible charge management.
Emiliano Marzoli The machine can be charged both with household 110v plugs or with a 415 volts quick charging point. In the latter case only four hours are required to complete the charge.
According to the OEM, one battery charge can last a full workday. In addition, it is possible to charge the machine on site while idling. The machine allows monitoring of the power supply of the construction site to make sure it is not overloaded.

Europe Stage V Emissions Standard Officially Delayed
Regulation (EU) 2020/1040 to amend Regulation (EU) 2016/1628 on Stage V emissions for non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) was published July 17 in the Official Journal of the European Union.
Emiliano Marzoli This final step of the legislative process confirms that the 12-month extension of certain transitional provisions is officially EU law and is applicable retroactively from July 1, 2020.
This amendment to the Stage V Regulation extends by 12 months the June 30, 2020, and December31, 2020, deadlines for the production and placing on the market of NRMM and tractors fitted with transition engines <56kW and ≥130kW.

COVID-19 Update: ARGO Tractors Resumes Manufacturing
Production has resumed in ARGO Tractors plants after being shut down for almost two months. Different measures were put in place in order to comply with government health regulations. In April ARGO started to sanitize the factories and prepare to resume operations. Protection equipment is distributed to workers who must keep social distancing and whose temperature is registered at the entrance of the factories.
