HDMA Presents Pulse Webinar with PSR
Providing 2021 Forecast on Global Production of Commercial Vehicles
Power Systems Research will produce a one-hour webinar with the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA) providing the outlook for commercial vehicle production in North America and Europe during Q4 2020 and 2021.

Wacker Neuson Expands EV Offerings
German construction machine manufacturer Wacker Neuson has introduced a new product to their electric range. The EZ17e is an electric zero tail mini excavator with lithium ion batteries and flexible charge management.
Emiliano Marzoli The machine can be charged both with household 110v plugs or with a 415 volts quick charging point. In the latter case only four hours are required to complete the charge.
According to the OEM, one battery charge can last a full workday. In addition, it is possible to charge the machine on site while idling. The machine allows monitoring of the power supply of the construction site to make sure it is not overloaded.

Europe Stage V Emissions Standard Officially Delayed
Regulation (EU) 2020/1040 to amend Regulation (EU) 2016/1628 on Stage V emissions for non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) was published July 17 in the Official Journal of the European Union.
Emiliano Marzoli This final step of the legislative process confirms that the 12-month extension of certain transitional provisions is officially EU law and is applicable retroactively from July 1, 2020.
This amendment to the Stage V Regulation extends by 12 months the June 30, 2020, and December31, 2020, deadlines for the production and placing on the market of NRMM and tractors fitted with transition engines <56kW and ≥130kW.

Daimler Pursues Fuel Cells on Multiple Fronts
In a statement released June 30, Daimler announced it will be investing “a very substantial sum” in achieving a CO2-neutral future for the transportation sector. Hydrogen fuel cell production facilities are currently in development, with an eye toward mass production of fuel cells and their component parts.
Tyler Wiegert Some of the hurdles Daimler is working to overcome are the needs for highly-filtered air and stable ambient temperature and humidity. The materials and components used in fuel cell production do not allow for an easy transfer in process from conventional engine manufacturing.

COVID-19 Update: ARGO Tractors Resumes Manufacturing
Production has resumed in ARGO Tractors plants after being shut down for almost two months. Different measures were put in place in order to comply with government health regulations. In April ARGO started to sanitize the factories and prepare to resume operations. Protection equipment is distributed to workers who must keep social distancing and whose temperature is registered at the entrance of the factories.

COVID-19 Update: Europe Slowly Resuming Production
April 21, 2020–After four weeks of lockdown, some European countries are slowly lifting restrictions, allowing industrial production and some commercial operations to restart, and restoring some freedoms to their citizens.
Emiliano Marzoli In Italy, this week represents a key moment as some industries can resume production. Agricultural and Lawn&Garden OEMs can reopen their factories, although respecting strict regulations that will reduce factory capacity. The same is happening in Spain starting April 13, with all segments resuming work, but with differences across regions. Moreover, many OEMs were not able to meet the new working regulations and could not resume production.

Mercedes-Benz Focuses on Autonomous Driving Trucks
Daimler has realigned the focus of Mercedes-Benz on autonomous driving. Instead of self-driving cars, trucks are now at the top of its priority list.
Dalibor Sablic The German car maker initially planned to concentrate on autonomous cars, explained Daimler CEO Ola Kallenius in a conversation with journalists at the canceled Geneva Motor Show. The group believes that self-driving trucks are initially the more attractive area, says the Daimler boss, according to the news platform news.com.au.
