First Electric Highway Buses Start Operation in Southern Brazil

Intercity transportation of passengers by highway buses started in a new phase with the beginning of the operation of the first full electric plug in bus.   It is  Marcopolo Viaggio 1050 bus, assembled on BYD D9A 20.410 chassis, operated by Turis Silva. This initiative is also supported by EDP Smart, a division of Energy Solutions of EDP, a company of the electrical segment.

Stellantis Confirms Second Electric LCV in Brazil

Soon after the recent launch of the Peugeot e-Expert, Stellantis announced the Citroën e-Jumpy on Friday Nov. 12. Price, drives, batteries configuration, autonomy have not been announced yet. However it announced the growth expectations from 1.2% Market Share to 4% with the new electric launches.

PSR Analysis: Although it has not been announced, the most likely scenario is that Citroën e-Jumpy will use the same configuration as its European product, the Peugeot e-208 GT. European Battery has 75kWh with Autonomy for 330 km per charge over the EMP2 platform. PSR

German Soccer

The European office of Power Systems Research (PSR) this season sponsored a local soccer team in Germany. The A youth of the SSG Gravenbruch is playing in the district class in the district of Offenbach am Main. The club currently occupies fourth place out of a total of 10 teams. The club is coached by Dalibor Sablic, an account manager for PSR.

Tata Motors: Electrification Is an Irreversible Trend

Tata Motors recently unveiled the electric avatar of its most popular small commercial vehicle Ace. The company said it has booked orders for 39,000 units from top e-commerce players. India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer plans to transform commercial vehicles to achieve a net-zero target by 2070 for the country.  PSR

EU May Impose Tariffs on Chinese EVs

In her annual State of The EU address on Sept. 13, 2023, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen suggested that Chinese manufacturers are dumping Chinese EVs on EU customers that are priced below what domestic manufacturers charge.

She suggested that the root cause of the problem is the heavy subsidies provided to Chinese automakers by the central government — subsidies that allow them to sell Chinese EVs at artificially low prices to the detriment of domestic companies. If so, she warned the EU would consider imposing new tariffs on Chinese cars to level the playing field.
