We have maintained a presence in Russia since 2013 to bring important updates to our clients about the powered equipment markets within Russia. Avtotor Company Left Without Subsidies for BMW Cars

Avtotor is no longer receiving utilization fees for BMW cars, assembled according to the contract with the OEM in Kaliningrad. The German OEM is not ready to announce plans for increasing localization of production in Kaliningrad to return compensations.

It looks like for BMW it’s easier to raise final the price to compensate for a loss of subsidies, than to make local production deeper. Currently, Avtotor assembles X5, X6 and X7 in Kaliningrad. Sedan car assembly was shifted abroad last Spring.

Rostselmash Increases Investment Program More Than 40%

Rostselmash, the largest Russian AG machine maker, during the period into 2024 will increase investments for production development from US$ 275 million to US$ 390 million (19.9 billion Rubles to 28.5 billion Rubles, respectively).

Initially, the transmission plant was scheduled to make 90,000 gear units per year, but as soon as the plan of tractor production was corrected, planned output of the transmission plant was increased to 150,000 gear units per year. Also, three new painting lines were added.

In the beginning of September Rostselmash started building a new plant in Rostov-Don. It will make tractors, road construction and communal machines. The new plant will make 5,000 machines per year.

Automechanika Fair Shows CV Parts

MOSCOW–MIMS, also called Automechanika, is a trade show dedicated to automotive parts and components, automotive electronics and service/repair.

The fair was conducted this year at the Moscow Expocenter July 23 to 26.

Automechanika is a small local event. However, this year there were about 400 participants from 18 countries. The biggest delegations were from Russia and Turkey. There were companies from UK, India, Spain, Italy, Iran, UAE and other countries.

Among largest foreign participants were AJUSA, AZARD, AVS, ACPS automotive, BREMBO, BSG, CARVILLE, Conex distribution, Fenox, General Motors,  JP GROUP, KANN Group, KRAFT, KRAFTTECH, KRONER, LIQUI MOLY, Mutlu, Parts-Mall, RIVAL / MICHELIN, SANGSIN BRAKE, SKYWAY.

Russian companies were presented by GAZ Group, UGMK and many smaller component makers and trade houses.

Traditionally, this fair relates to the passenger cars segment. However, this year exhibitors showed parts for heavy duty vehicles and even construction/mining machines. PSR

Sales of Agriculture Machines in Russian Increase 50%

The Russian market for AG machines has increased by 1.5 times during the first six months of this year, reaching 93.9 billion rubles (US$ 1.27 billion). Production volume has increased by 45% to 112.7 billion rubles (US$ 1.54 billion).

The largest growth has been in the output of plows, climbing to 1,800 units and AG tractors – by 43% to 2,800 units. Production of sprayers has increased by 37.3% to 953 units. There has been a modest gain in production of grain combines, increasing 10.2% to 3,800 units, and self-propelled mowers, gaining 2.6% to 228 units.

Czech Republic Develops Electric UAZ Hunter SUV for 3.5 million Rubles

The regular powertrain in the SUV has been replaced by an AC motor, and inside the car they’ve installed digital panel.

The Czech start-up MW Motor has created an electric car based on the UAZ Hunter. Today, the company has begun taking orders for the new vehicle. According to “Tesla Magazine”, prices for “green SUV” start from €39,900. Cars are available with left or right steering wheel. Also, Czechs are offering test-drive of SUV in Dobrzahny.

The regular engine has been replaced by an AC motor. SUV retains a 5-speed manual transmission and AWD. The motor output is 160hp. The battery gives from 56 to 90 kWt/hr.

KAMAZ Has Started Making Parts for Aurus Cars

KAMAZ will become a supplier of key parts for luxury Aurus cars. According to the OEM’s press-service, the company has started production of cylinder blocks, block heads and base plates of NAMI-4123 engines used in Aurus models.

At the moment, however, we are talking about the development of technological processes, so the parts are produced using experimental methods. Serial Aurus cars now uses imported blocks and heads. As soon as KAMAZ ensures high quality of parts, they will be substituted for imported parts.

Sinara May Dismiss 20% of Workers Because of Reduced Orders

The machine building company “Sinara – Transport machines” (STM), says it may be forced to dismiss 20% of personnel because it has lost most of its orders from Russian Railways for cranes and other railway service machines.

Sinara has lost 85% of the orders from Russian Railways for railway service machines. Because of decreasing orders from the railway monopoly, the main client of STM, 7,000 people on its plants have not worked since August. The total personnel number in STM is 32,000 people, so about 20% of its personnel is questionable. Now, the company is looking for a way to re-qualify these people

KAMAZ Introduces Hercules Articulated Truck

The first pictures of the new KAMAZ articulated mining truck have been published, showing a configuration of the truck with a 6×6 chassis. It will compete with the Caterpillar 740 and Volvo A40F.

The articulated frame will increase maneuverability and off-road characteristics of the truck. Hercules will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain. The new truck will use a KAMAZ R6 engine of 450 hp, and the nominal output of every electric motor will be 517 hp. The load capacity of Hercules is 40 tons, and the full weight is 75 tons. A light option with 4×4 format and 25-ton capacity are also in the plans.

Russia To Suspend Support of Domestic Auto Industry

The Russian auto market’s increased demand for new passenger cars has caused inventory shortages, and these shortages have caused Russian authorities to suspend State programs of industry support.

In May, for example, the number of the cars sold increased by 2.3 times, compared to same period in 2020. This growth is partly the result of pandemic restrictions last year. A total of 663,000 new cars have been delivered to the customers this year, up 39% from a year ago.

Another reason for the shortage of cars in Russia is a shortage of semiconductor chips.

Renwex-2021 Fair Demonstrates Little Interest in EV Cars

MOSCOW–Despite the number of COVID-infected people in Moscow increasing since the middle of June, the trade shows have not been affected by the pandemic restrictions. Another fair started 21 June in Moscow Expocenter. It’s Renwex – the fair dedicated to renewable energy and electric transport.

The fair is relatively new and small. It took about 3000 sq. meters and accommodated 80 participants. Most of them were local companies, although there were some participants from Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and China.
