Brazilian vehicle exports to Argentina fell 35.4% in the first half of 2026, totaling 106,000 units, according to Anfavea. The decline was attributed to the increase in Chinese vehicle imports into Argentina, which reduced demand for Made in Brazil models in Brazil’s main external market. Total Brazilian vehicle exports reached 216,600 units from January to June, down 21.2% year over year. Automakers now project a 12.8% decline in exports for 2026, reversing the 1.3% growth forecast issued in January.

PSR Analysis. Automakers producing in Brazil are facing in Argentina the same competitive pressure from Chinese brands seen in the Brazilian market, and potentially with greater intensity. Chinese vehicles combine high technological content, aggressive pricing, and broader equipment packages, reducing the competitiveness of Brazil made models. The historical rejection of Chinese products is also declining, weakening one of the previous barriers to adoption in regional markets.   PSR
