BYD has introduced the BC12HF, its first high floor electric bus chassis equipped with Blade batteries, produced in Campinas with a range of up to 270 km. The new configuration targets urban and charter applications and allows BYD to participate in projects requiring high floor architecture, complementing its existing electric bus chassis portfolio. The platform uses an integrated electric architecture and electronically controlled air suspension, while the company highlights lower operating and maintenance costs and higher vehicle availability.

PSR Analysis. The portfolio expansion removes some important application limitations for BYD and increases the addressable market for its electric bus chassis, supporting a higher growth trajectory in Power Systems Research databases as the product becomes eligible for additional fleet profiles. The Blade battery also benefits from BYD’s established reputation in the light vehicle market, which should reduce operator resistance toward battery durability and technology risk. The main constraint remains charging infrastructure and fleet electrification economics, but broader product coverage strengthens BYD’s position as electric bus adoption expands in Brazil.   PSR
