After the first sale of NG trucks at Fenatran in October 2019, Scania has sold 22 more, including 18 to Pepsico. The forecast of 100 NG Trucks to be sold this year has been reduced because of the pandemic effect.
Most owners of electric cars have wished for a battery pack that could power their vehicle for more than a thousand miles on a single charge, and Range Anxiety is a big issue for EV adoption. Researchers at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory have developed a lithium-air battery that could make that dream a reality.
The main new component in this lithium-air battery is a solid electrolyte instead of the usual liquid variety. Batteries with solid electrolytes are not subject to the safety issues of liquid electrolytes used in lithium-ion and other battery types, which can overheat and catch fire.

sales in Q4 2019 rose 3.5% from Q3 2019, driven primarily by growth in the
middle power ranges. The 21-50kW range experienced the fastest growth at 7.5%,
followed by 10-20kW at 3.7% and 101-300kW at 3.5%.
When looking at this
growth by application, we see that standbys were the only application to
experience meaningful growth this quarter, ending with a strong 7.5% increase. Unlike
previous quarters, this increased demand came from more than residential
consumers. Institutional and industrial consumers increased their demand by
2.5% and 3.75%, respectively. This is the strongest fourth quarter showing for
these consumer types in the last five years.

Even though the power
generation production market was up slightly (0.9% in 2018-2019), we see it declining
about 1% over the next year.
For those of you a few
years removed from your high school U.S. History courses, the original Gilded
Age was a period covering the 1870s-1890s that was marked by astonishing
economic growth. Driven by the expansion of industrialization in the North and
West, facilitated by growing railroad networks, real wages grew an enviable
60%.
But Mark Twain dubbed
this period the “Gilded Age” rather than the “Golden Age,” because it was also
marked by extreme poverty, and he represented it with gilded, decaying apple.
The shiny outward appearance of growth was masking a rotten core of massive
inequality.
The electrification of the construction machinery industry in China continues to accelerate. For example, CATAL and Longgong have signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde, Fujian, a move that follows the January cooperation agreement between CATAL and Lingong Heavy Machinery. According to the agreement, both parties will expand cooperation in the development and production of construction machinery, the development of power batteries for construction machinery, and jointly research and develop adaptive products and market promotion to jointly explore the new energy construction machinery market.
More and more construction machinery companies are turning their attention to the electrification market. Domestic and foreign engineering machinery companies such as XCMG, Sany, Zoomlion, and Carter have developed and launched electric products such as loaders, excavators, and mixer trucks.

March 23, 2020–Komatsu has launched the SMARTCONSTRUCTION Retrofit kit, the add-on kit to offer ICT capabilities, such as 3D machine guidance and payload measurement, to conventional construction equipment in Japan in late April through LANDLOG Ltd.
Conventional construction equipment with no ICT capabilities
account for over 98% of all construction equipment working on construction
sites in Japan. When the SMARTCONSTRUCTION Retrofit kit is added to
conventional equipment, it will enable the equipment to use ICT functions, such
as 3D machine guidance and payload measurement, about on par with ICT-intensive
equipment.
The CTT Bauma trade show is main event of construction industry in Russia. Since 2017 it’s owned and operated by Messe Munich. The show was conducted this year in Moscow May 25-28 in its usual place, the Crocus Expocenter. Last year, the fair was off because of the COVID pandemic, but this year we saw that both the exhibition and construction industries are showing a growing trend. The fair’s indoor exposition was restored to three pavilions, and the outdoor exposition also grew in size versus 2019. There were 351 exhibitors from 17 countries, somewhat better than last time. A total of 184 brands were represented.
Here is, however, one unpleasant factor. Most of the international OEMs did not participate in the fair this time. Wirtgen, Volvo, Cummins, Caterpillar, Ammann, Hyundai, Renault, Komatsu machines were missing from this fair. John Deere, Doosan, Kato, and some other brands were limited, having only small booths, set by the local dealers. Many Russian machine makers, who usually participate in the fair, also ignored the event. Among them – GAZ, Chetra, DST-10, Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, YAMZ.
