MOSCOW–Despite the number of COVID-infected people in Moscow increasing since the middle of June, the trade shows have not been affected by the pandemic restrictions. Another fair started 21 June in Moscow Expocenter. It’s Renwex – the fair dedicated to renewable energy and electric transport.
The fair is relatively new and small. It took about 3000 sq. meters and accommodated 80 participants. Most of them were local companies, although there were some participants from Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and China.
Electric transport was presented by various imported cars (some of them were second-hand ones), and one Formula-1 electric prototype designed by MADI (Moscow automotive institute). Tesla range was shown by a local reseller, and included by Models 3, X and S, shown by local non-official dealer. There are no official Tesla dealers in Russia.
Also shown at the fair were car charging stations, solar panels, accumulators, and various electric devices. KAMAZ electric buses, exhibited here in 2019, were not shown this time.
As we can see from this trade show, the topic of electric cars is out of focus in Russia. Few companies are working in the field, and few companies are showing interest here. It seems that mass production and use of electric cars in Russia is a business for the far future.
Electric public transport has its own distribution channels, dispatched by the State. Therefore it does not need to be shown at a trade show like this. PSR
