Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus has expanded its alternative-powertrain portfolio with the launch of the new e-Delivery 12 and e-Delivery 17 electric trucks and the start of sales of the Constellation Biometano. The new e-Delivery models extend VWCO’s electric offering into higher-GVW urban distribution applications, while the biomethane-powered Constellation targets applications where battery-electric solutions remain more difficult to implement.
The strategy broadens VWCO’s decarbonization portfolio beyond a single technology, combining battery-electric vehicles for urban and predictable duty cycles with renewable gaseous-fuel solutions for heavier or more intensive operations.

PSR Analysis. While several traditional Brazilian light vehicle automotive manufacturers are still reacting to the rapid expansion of Chinese competitors–often focusing first on the competitive threat and only now accelerating their technology strategies–VWCO is moving earlier to do its homework and adapt its portfolio. The company is expanding its BEV offering while also leveraging Brazil’s structural advantages in biofuels and biomethane, positioning itself to compete with Chinese manufacturers across both electrified and renewable-fuel technologies.
The next challenge will be price competitiveness: maintaining its leadership and outperforming Chinese competitors over the medium and long term will depend on VWCO’s ability to combine technology, local production and competitive pricing, particularly in the light- and medium-duty segments where Chinese pressure is likely to be strongest.
