MOSCOW–The fourth annual Heat and Power Show was conducted here Oct. 22-24, and a significant part of the fair was dedicated to small generation and co-generation applications.

Although at the moment this fair is rather small, it has a good potential to become a large international show because it is only fair in Russia with such a specialization. There were about 100 participants from 12 countries.

Among the exhibitors we noticed market leaders in HHP diesel and gas gen-sets and their dealers. Products and technical solutions were presented by these companies: MAN diesel and turbo, MTU,  Tedom, and Mitsubishi.

Jenbacher gen-sets were shown by the local dealer, GreenTech Energy. Locally made gen-sets were presented by PSM and Kadvi, which showed MWM gen-sets, and gen-sets, powered by its own gas turbine.

The Russian market of small generation units is at the beginning on the way of transformation. There are many gen-sets makers in Russia, but most of them are producing gen-sets of low power.

There are several companies making equipment of medium power (more than a Megawatt per unit), but almost no HHP gensets makers.

The Government has started a program of import substitution for power machinery. However, the future of this program is uncertain at the moment.

Similar programs have been implemented in other segments of power machinery (such as on-hwy, agriculture and construction), which indicates that these measures have a chances to succe. PS
