Yanmar To Analyze Data on Agricultural and Construction Equipment

Yanmar Holdings announced it will begin operating Yanmar Synergy Square, a support base for monitoring the operational status of customers’ agricultural and construction equipment, beginning Oct. 19, 2020.

Data will be collected and analyzed via communication from sensors installed on machines and equipment. It will suggest parts replacement and maintenance before they malfunction. It was built at a cost of 2.5 billion yen (23.8 million USD) and will be operated by Yanmar Global CS, a subsidiary of the company.

Q3 2020 Power Systems Research Truck Production Index (PSR-TPI) climbs 203%

St. Paul, MN — The Power Systems Research Truck Production Index (PSR-TPI) increased from 36 to 109, or 203%, for the three-month period ended Oct. 31, 2020, from the Q2 2020. The year-over-year (Q3 2019 to Q3 2020) loss for the PSR-TPI was, 117 to 109, or 6.8%.

The PSR-TPI measures truck production globally and across six regions: North America, China, Europe, South America, Japan & Korea and Emerging Markets.

Indonesia plans to introduce a subsidy program to encourage the purchase of EVs starting in 2023. The goal is to increase the number of EV users to 2.5 million by 2025 and reduce air pollution. The EV purchase subsidy program will be added to the list of EV policies introduced by President Joko Widodo over the past year.

Transportation Minister Boudi Karya Sumadi said the government is also considering subsidies for retrofitting internal combustion engine vehicles, but the government is carefully considering this plan because it would bring major changes to the labor-intensive auto industry. The Ministry of Transport plans to approach existing Indonesian automakers, such as South Korea’s Hyundai Motor and China’s BYD, to create an EV ecosystem for Borneo’s new capital city, he said.

Hyundai Sells EVs To Oil-Producing Countries

Hyundai Motor Company has started to develop the EV market in the Middle East. The strategy is to get a head start in the market by making large investments. In response to the global movement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, interest in the EV market is high in the oil-producing countries of the Middle East.

On Oct. 22, 2023, Hyundai Motor Company, which is expanding its business into environmentally friendly hydrogen energy in addition to local vehicle production, signed a joint investment agreement with the Saudi National Fund to establish a semi-finished product assembly plant. The joint venture plant will be built in King Abdullah Economic City and will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 units.
